GOING BEYOND A SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE
We don’t just want to create eco-friendly, ethical dimond jewellery, we want to use our platform to make the world a better place. This is why we’re committed to going further to really support the environment, wildlife and communities.
Reforesting initiatives that reduce carbon, support marine life and protect communities
We support the planting of mangrove trees at the coast of Madagascar and Nigeria. Mangrove trees are one of the most effective plants when it comes to carbon absorption.
Growing both on land and in water, mangroves support marine ecosystems and biodiversity, and help to minimise the impact of severe weather condtions on the shoreline.
For every jewellery piece sold we plant up to 100 mangrove trees, so your purchase will have a lasting positive effect on our environment.
Supporting communities directly impacted by diamond mining
We’re working alongside initiatives that deliver practical support to those affected by the diamond mining industry.
We support the Forest Garden Program, which is a simple, replicable and scalable approach with proven success.
By planting specific types of fast-growing trees, fruit trees, hardwoods and food crops in a systematic manner over a four year period, families positively change their lives forever. Forest Gardens consist of thousands of trees that provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood and a 400% increase in their annual income in four years.
Rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife species
Diamond mining practices disturbs and reduces animal habitats, resulting in declining populations and potentially pushing some species towards extinction.
For example, the Western Chimpanzee population has reduced by a staggering 80% over the last 25 years as a result, in part, of this activity.
We are passionate about offsetting the effect of diamond mining on wildlife and are very close to finalising our support plan – watch this space for more details.
